Educational Development
EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT initiatives seek to inspire, motivate, and support the aspirations and achievement of children, youth, and young adults. Mentoring programs target youth, including the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy for girls ages 11-14, Dr. Jeanne Noble Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully (GEMS) for girls ages 14-18, and Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (EMBODI) for boys ages 14-18. Youth enrichment, college and career readiness, and service learning opportunities encompass a biennial cotillion, college scholarship competition, tours of HBCUs and community colleges, literacy outreach in elementary schools, Science and Everyday Experiences for elementary and middle school students, and a Prom Dress Giveaway with financial affordability and safety tips.

The Prince George's County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is proud to accept applications for three dynamic youth enrichment programs designed to educate, empower, and prepare young people for success:
Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy supports girls ages 11–14 through academic enrichment, STEM, literacy, character development, healthy living, leadership, and service-learning experiences.
Delta GEMS helps girls ages 14–18 strengthen their confidence, academic achievement, financial literacy, mental wellness, college readiness, career preparation, and leadership skills.
EMBODI provides young men of color ages 14–18 with mentorship and opportunities to develop leadership, independence, academic readiness, financial literacy, wellness, and meaningful community connections.
Applications will be accepted August 1 through September 30, 2026. Space may be limited, so parents and guardians are encouraged to apply early.
